Dr. James W. Kiley received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and continued with an internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Kiley is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is also a member of several other professional organizations such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), the North Carolina Medical Society and the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Kiley joined Raleigh Eye Center in 1980, and provided eye care such as refractive surgery (including PRK, and LASIK), cataract surgery with implants, glaucoma surgery and treatment, as well as routine eye exams.
Dr. Kiley has done medical mission work in the Amazon jungle in Brazil, the Philippine Islands, The Republic of China, Africa, and Mexico providing free surgery and teaching local doctors the newest techniques in cataract surgery. He implanted the first foldable intraocular lens implant in Raleigh.
Dr. Kiley retired from medical practice in March 2019.
