In Their Words – Rebecca’s LASIK Story

Two years ago Rebecca Paul was considering having LASIK. She was tired of dealing with her glasses and contact lenses. Read about her experience before, during and after having LASIK at Raleigh Eye Center.

I cannot remember my life ever being clear. I began wearing glasses when I was very young. I hated wearing contact lenses because they were uncomfortable and made my eyes dry and red. My vision was never crisp. My glasses were inconvenient, smudgy and very easy to lose. I despised having to try to find them and put them on in the middle of the night to see.

I decided to have LASIK, so I could put an end to the challenges I was experiencing with glasses and contact lenses. I was nervous about having the procedure because I’ve never had any kind of surgery before!

The procedure was not bad at all! It seemed like the whole thing lasted less than 10 minutes! Dr. Kiley and the techs were great about letting me know exactly what was going on and what to expect.

Later on in the day after having LASIK, I had the hardest time not taking my shields off because I wanted to see what my vision was like! I just spent the day listening to the TV and napping. The next day I went to work with no glasses or contact lenses and my vision was GREAT!

It is two years later and I have never regretted my decision to have LASIK. If I had to make the decision again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. My vision is great – still 20/20!!
